Wildfire G90216 started on May 1, 2023, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on March 31, 2026. Its mapped perimeter covers 280,461 ha (2,805 km²): the largest of 2025's 39 large fires, and the 6th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Northern Rockies, burning 278,932 ha there, 3% of the mountain resort municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Northern Rockies.
