Pocket Knife Creek wildfire, 2025

The Pocket Knife Creek wildfire started on May 17, 2025, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on March 31, 2026. Its mapped perimeter covers 149,505 ha (1,495 km²): the 2nd-largest of 2025's 39 large fires, and the 14th-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Peace River, Electoral Area B. The nearest municipality, Hudson's Hope, is roughly 176 km away; the fire covered about 1.5 times the land area of it.
