Summit Lake wildfire, 2025
The Summit Lake wildfire started on May 27, 2025, caused by people. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on March 31, 2026. Its mapped perimeter covers 80,842 ha (808 km²): the 4th-largest of 2025's 39 large fires, and the 26th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Northern Rockies, burning 80,842 ha there, under 1% of the mountain resort municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Northern Rockies.
