The The Pesh wildfire started on July 4, 2012, caused by lightning. It was declared out on November 21, 2012. Its mapped perimeter covers 12,196 ha (122 km²): the 2nd-largest of 2012's 18 large fires, and the 158th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Northern Rockies, burning 12,196 ha there, under 1% of the mountain resort municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Northern Rockies.
