The White Spruce Creek wildfire started on August 8, 2012, caused by lightning. It was declared out on December 13, 2012. Its mapped perimeter covers 24,852 ha (249 km²): the largest of 2012's 18 large fires, and the 81st-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Northern Rockies, burning 24,852 ha there, under 1% of the mountain resort municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Northern Rockies.
