R-RU: Residential Rural
A zone in Rural Comox Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 520, 2019 (Comox Valley Regional District). Our summary of Section 702 of the bylaw as consolidated to 2026-09-08.
The Comox Valley Regional District doesn't publish its zoning map as open data, so a PlaceDossier report can't say whether a lot is zoned R-RU. Bylaw No. 520 zones Electoral Areas A, B and C, Mt. Washington included. Denman and Hornby Islands are zoned by the Islands Trust, and Indian Reserves are outside it. Ask the CVRD's planning services department which zone a lot is in, or find it on the CVRD's iMap.

On land Schedule B marks for a 4 ha minimum, no new lot is under 4 ha.
An RV may be lived in while the house is built under a building permit, for up to 365 days, once a septic system is in and with a $1,000 security; otherwise one RV may be lived in for at most 30 days in a year (s. 313).
