Argenta Creek wildfire, 2024

The Argenta Creek wildfire started on July 18, 2024, caused by lightning. It was declared out on October 24, 2024. Its mapped perimeter covers 19,153 ha (192 km²): the 6th-largest of 2024's 50 large fires, and the 106th-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Central Kootenay, Electoral Area D. The nearest municipality, Kaslo, is roughly 39 km away; the fire covered about 58 times the land area of it.
