Sikanni Park wildfire, 2024

The Sikanni Park wildfire started on May 1, 2024, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on March 31, 2025. Its mapped perimeter covers 25,380 ha (254 km²): the 5th-largest of 2024's 50 large fires, and the 77th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Northern Rockies, burning 23,388 ha there, under 1% of the mountain resort municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Northern Rockies.
