Halfway River wildfire, 2016
The Halfway River wildfire started on April 19, 2016, caused by people. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on May 8, 2017. Its mapped perimeter covers 5,636 ha: the 3rd-largest of 2016's 4 large fires, and the 283rd-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Peace River, Electoral Area B. The nearest municipality, Hudson's Hope, is roughly 38 km away; the fire covered a small fraction of the land area of it.
