The Siphon Creek wildfire started on April 18, 2016, caused by people. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on April 3, 2017. Its mapped perimeter covers 84,574 ha (846 km²): the largest of 2016's 4 large fires, and the 23rd-largest in BC since 1990. 73% of it was in Peace River, Electoral Area B. The nearest municipality, Fort St. John, is roughly 61 km away; the fire covered about 26 times the land area of it.
