RR-1: Residential Reserve
A zone in City of Quesnel Zoning Bylaw No. 1980 of 2025 (City of Quesnel). Our summary of Section 8 of the bylaw as consolidated to 2025-12-30.
The City of Quesnel doesn't publish its zoning map as open data, so a PlaceDossier report can't say whether a lot is zoned RR-1. Zoning Bylaw No. 1980 zones all land in the city; land its map leaves unzoned is Agriculture (A-1). Land outside the city is zoned by the Cariboo Regional District. Ask the City of Quesnel's planning staff which zone a lot is in, or find it on the bylaw's zoning map (Schedule B).
What the zone allows
- Homes allowed
- One house with a secondary suite; a secondary dwelling or carriage house only on a lot fully on community water and sewer
- Main uses
- Home with farming, home business, bed and breakfast, short-term rental
- Smallest lot for a subdivision
- 4 ha, with 30 m of frontage
- Lot coverage
- 20%
- Height limit
- Main building 9 m or 2 storeys, accessory buildings 7 m
- Setbacks
- 7.5 m from every lot line
Accessory buildings up to 150 m² each; no limit on the number of farm buildings (ss. 8.3.6, 8.4.1).
No new lot under 1 ha unless it's on community sewer (s. 4.7.1).
Floodplain setbacks (s. 4.15): 30 m from the Fraser and Quesnel rivers and Baker Creek, 15 m from other streams, 7.5 m from a lake, pond or marsh.
Any use the bylaw doesn't list is not allowed (s. 4.22.1), so there's no rule for living in an RV while you build; ask the City.
Site-specific exceptions listed in the bylaw by legal description can add or change uses for one property, and development permit areas, the ALR and building rules apply on top. Confirm with the City of Quesnel's planning staff before you buy or build.
