Where the bylaw is unclear

Points we couldn't settle from the bylaw's text. Ask before you rely on them.

  • RR: Whether a secondary suite is allowed. The bylaw's definition of a house includes one suite "where permitted by this Bylaw", and s. 3.5 sets the rules (one per lot, up to 90 m², in the house with its own outside door or in an accessory building on a lot of 280 m² or more, 3 m from the house; never with a duplex; on community water and sewer, or on a lot of 0.2 ha or more with its own septic system, a proven backup field and drinking water; one more parking space). But no zone lists a suite as a permitted use, and a use no zone lists isn't permitted (s. 2.10), so is unclear; ask the Village of Lytton.

  • R2: Whether a secondary suite is allowed.
  • M2: The minimum floor area of a home: the table says 4.3 m² (46.3 sq ft), where every other zone says 48.3 m², so the figure is unclear; ask the Village of Lytton.

Site-specific exceptions listed in the bylaw by legal description can add or change uses for one property, and development permit areas, the ALR and building rules apply on top. Confirm with the Village of Lytton (planning@lytton.ca) before you buy or build.
