Bald Range wildfire, 2026

The Bald Range wildfire started on August 7, 2026. Its mapped perimeter covers 25,163 ha (252 km²): the 5th-largest of this season's 27 large fires, and the 78th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Summerland, burning 3,085 ha there, 40% of the district municipality's land. The whole fire covered about 3.5 times the land area of Summerland.
