Tomias Mountain wildfire, 2023

The Tomias Mountain wildfire started on June 23, 2023, caused by lightning. It was declared out on November 21, 2023. Its mapped perimeter covers 14,462 ha (145 km²): the 35th-largest of 2023's 119 large fires, and the 128th-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Stikine Region. The nearest municipality, Stewart, is roughly 208 km away; the fire covered about 26% of the land area of it.
