Bush Creek East wildfire, 2023

The Bush Creek East wildfire started on July 12, 2023, caused by lightning. It was declared out on December 13, 2023. Its mapped perimeter covers 45,745 ha (457 km²): the 12th-largest of 2023's 119 large fires, and the 44th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Chase, burning 28 ha there, 6% of the village's land. The whole fire covered about 104 times the land area of Chase.
