Kostel Cone wildfire, 2023

The Kostel Cone wildfire started on July 7, 2023, caused by lightning. It was declared out on October 20, 2023. Its mapped perimeter covers 20,746 ha (207 km²): the 29th-largest of 2023's 119 large fires, and the 99th-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Thompson-Nicola, Electoral Area A (Wells Gray Country). The nearest municipality, Clearwater, is roughly 62 km away; the fire covered about 3.5 times the land area of it.
