Ocock Lake wildfire, 2023

The Ocock Lake wildfire started on July 7, 2023, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on August 28, 2024. Its mapped perimeter covers 5,220 ha: the 59th-largest of 2023's 119 large fires, and the 299th-largest in BC since 1990. 90% of it was in Fraser-Fort George, Electoral Area G. The nearest municipality, Fort St. James, is roughly 42 km away; the fire covered about 2 times the land area of it.
