Bearhole Lake wildfire, 2022
The Bearhole Lake wildfire started on August 31, 2022, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on June 9, 2023. Its mapped perimeter covers 6,499 ha: the 5th-largest of 2022's 22 large fires, and the 254th-largest in BC since 1990. All of it was in Peace River, Electoral Area D. The nearest municipality, Tumbler Ridge, is roughly 44 km away; the fire covered a small fraction of the land area of it.
