Wildwood wildfire, 2017

The Wildwood wildfire started on July 7, 2017, caused by lightning. It burned on through the winter and was declared out on June 19, 2018. Its mapped perimeter covers 12,723 ha (127 km²): the 10th-largest of 2017's 43 large fires, and the 146th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Williams Lake, burning 171 ha there, 5% of the city's land. The whole fire covered about 3.5 times the land area of Williams Lake.
