Hourglass Creek wildfire, 2006

The Hourglass Creek wildfire started on June 27, 2006, caused by lightning. It was declared out on September 22, 2006. Its mapped perimeter covers 8,166 ha: the 6th-largest of 2006's 23 large fires, and the 210th-largest in BC since 1990. It reached Tumbler Ridge, burning 995 ha there, under 1% of the district municipality's land. The whole fire covered a small fraction of the land area of Tumbler Ridge.
